Dr. Johnson attended The Ohio State University and started working at American Ear Hearing & Audiology in 2018. He began working in the hearing industry because he was drawn to the promise of using cutting-edge technology to improve patient lives.
What Dr. Johnson loves most about helping those with hearing loss is when patients return to report how much better their lives are after adopting to their hearing aids. Dr. Johnson is passionate about providing the best custom hearing solution for each of his patients.
Dr. Johnson loves cooking and reading.
Linka Conkle, BC-HIS
Board Certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences
Linka Conkle is Board Certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences by the NBC-HIS. She has served as a Hearing Aid Dispenser for American Ear Hearing & Audiology since 2006 and specializes in building customized solutions based upon a patient’s lifestyle and hearing loss to help smoothly transition them back into the world of hearing. Her greatest joy in working with patients is when they return to share their experiences with hearing again and the positive impact that has had on their lives.
Linka and her husband, Jacob, have seven children and one grandchild. They enjoy farming and raising their children up in country life.
Steven Campbell, BS, BC-HIS
Board-Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist
Steven Campbell is excited to join the American Ear Hearing & Audiology team. Steven has been a Hearing Instrument Specialist for 21 years and has treated over 10,000 hearing-impaired ears. He is from Southeastern Ohio and earned his degree from Ohio University. He was trained and worked in Atlanta, GA for five years before obtaining his license to practice in Ohio in 2007. His experience as a practitioner, practice owner, regional manager and consultant has given him broad knowledge and expertise to help the hearing impaired. As a native of Ohio, he looks forward to helping those with hearing impairment to live their lives to the fullest by providing improved communication to those in need.
Steven has two daughters and six grandchildren, all living in the central Ohio area.
Summer Smith, HIS
Hearing Instrument Specialist
Summer Smith was born and raised in Plymouth, Indiana as the oldest of four girls. She and her second-youngest sister, Sophia, were both born with hearing loss. With firsthand experience of hearing loss and its effects, Summer believes that every individual deserves to experience the gift of better hearing.
Summer obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Hearing and Audiology from Purdue University. Summer is now dual-licensed in Indiana and Ohio as a Hearing Instrument Specialist.
Outside of work, Summer can be found spending time with her two cats, Coco and Moss. Summer also enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, and surrounding herself with great company. Fun fact: Summer’s cat, Coco, is deaf!
Cheryl Conaway
Audio Tech
Cheryl Conaway is an Audio Technician at American Ear Hearing and Audiology. Cheryl was born and raised in Zanesville, Ohio. Cheryl began working for American Ear in 2007 as a receptionist. The position of PCS was available once American Ear became a part of Audibel in 2001. Cheryl is dedicated to helping patients any way she can and wanted a more patient care related position as Audio technician and loves that role. Cheryl is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of saving hearing lives. The best part is seeing the patient’s reaction once they can hear. Cheryl believes its life changing for the patient and she is thankful to be a part of it. Outside of saving hearing lives Cheryl enjoys spending time with her husband, Bill and son, Chance and his finance Briana. Cheryl enjoys hosting friends and family by the pool in the summer and hosting Ohio State parties in the winter. Go Bucks!!!
Stacey Frenton
Patient Service Coordinator
Stacey Frenton is a Sr. Patient Services Coordinator. Stacey is originally from Newark, Ohio and moved to Nashport, Ohio in 2022. Stacey attended Licking Valley High School and started working at American Ear Hearing & Audiology in 2020. Stacey began working in the hearing industry in 2020 and was drawn to the profession because it was something different than she was used to and sounded interesting. What Stacey loves most about saving hearing lives is seeing a person’s reaction when they can hear things they weren’t able to prior to coming into the clinic. Stacey strives to make sure every patient has a great experience in her everyday work with patients. Outside of saving hearing lives, Stacey loves hanging out at home with her family, riding on the back of her husband’s Harley, and going on walks with her husband.
Michele Seagle
Patient Services Coordinator
Michele Seagle is a Patient Service Coordinator. Michele is originally from Dearborn, Michigan and moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1978. Michele attended Bryman Institute and started working at Davidson Road Primary care in 2014. Michele began working in the hearing industry in 2023 and was drawn to the profession because of a passion to help people improve their quality of life. What Michele loves most about saving hearing lives is how happy those individuals are, and they light up after being able to hear better. Michele strives to make patients feel welcome and comfortable, she also takes pride in keeping patients highly informed on Insurance coverage, future appointments/the specialist of any specific patient needs in her everyday work with patients. Outside of saving hearing lives, Michele loves hobbies such as hiking in the woods, riding Harleys with her husband and friends, and most importantly spending time with her children and grandson.
Amber Ferra
Patient Services Coordinator
Amber Ferra is a Patient Service Coordinator. Amber is originally from Madison, Ohio and moved to Columbus, Ohio in 2024. Amber attended Ohio University and started working at American Ear Hearing & Audiology in 2024. Amber began working in the hearing industry in 2024 and was drawn to the profession because she wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. What Amber loves most about saving hearing lives is getting to witness it firsthand and actually see how it can change someone’s life for the better. Amber strives to help as many people as she can in her everyday work with patients. Outside of saving hearing lives, Amber loves hobbies such as exercising, reading, and going out with friends.
